The London 2012 Olympic games will have some notable differences from the 2008 Olympic Games. Most notable is the exclusion of both baseball and softball as Olympic Events. The Olympics is world renowned and considered by atheletes at the main event during their career. The pinnacle of an atheletes career is to achieve a gold medal for their chosen Olympic event.
The proceedings for the London Olympics 2012 will begin from the 27th July and close on the 12th August, 2012. Olympics fever is now in its peak in the entire sporting world. The iconic and traditional Olympic Torch relay will fittingly pass many of the iconic and famous London Landmarks and sites. A total of 8,000 people have registered and will be part of this historic event by bearing the torch of the London Olympics. The selection process to indentify and pick a torch bearer was judged on the basis of the individuals inspirational level, and his/her services to society and/or local community. The torch relay system is one of the most decent and dignified custom in Olympics. It has always been kept among the most sensitive matters during the preparation of the global sports celebration. A chain of selected athletes run to symbolise the motto of the team spirit and brotherhood in this greatest sports occasion. The olympic torch is lit in Greece, and then travels across the chosen cities, towns and villages of UK. It’s final destination, the Olympic Stadium in the Olympic Park, Stratford, London is reached on the 18th May, 2012.
The 30th Olympic games will commence with the Isles of Wonder – the usual Olympic traditions as an artistic show of the culture of the host city-London. It will then be followed by a speech from the Head of State. Honour will be given to the president of IOC and chairman of the organising committee, and her majesty, the Queen.
The traditional ceremony parade of athletes’ nation by nation will be followed by speeches from delegates, the playing of the Olympic anthem and rising of flags of nations. After this, players will take the spirited oaths, then the cauldron will be ignited by the london Olympics torch.
